5 mins walk from Rokko to "Daitokuji Temple" where has 700 years history. The temple has one of the biggest temple in Kyoto which has more than 20 towers inside. Also, this temple has a deep connection with Sennorikyu who is a founder of "Japanese Tea Ceremony". Some of the towers opens all year, and also you can enjoy Japanese four seasons at there from the large premises.
Also around Rokko, there is "Imamiya-Shrine" which is popular for answering prayers for a wealth marriage.
At quiet living area of Rokko, there are many local people are living. When you walk out from Rokko, you probably meets up some local people who lives around there.
When you walk at "Shin-Omiya-Shotengai (shopping arcade) near by, you will find a lot of local people visits for their daily supply. When you go to "Murasakino-Onsen Hot Spring", you will meet adults and kids around there. There are a normal, ordinally people's life. You can spend time at this area like as you are living with them.
