120 years old machiya at the north of Nijyo Castle, the World Heritage. Just in front of long-established oil shop, Yamanaka-Abura.
The owner is long-established oil shop named Yamanaka-abura which shop is just in fron of Demizu-machiya. The history is more than 200 years.
The atmosphere around the house is very historical, you will feel good and old Japanese culture at there.
You can see detailed construction's structure at Demizu-Machiya, because this house is over 140 years old.
Also the area is typical Kyoto's living town, it was used to a area of the Emperor's female court's residence of Heian period.
You can cook at Demizu-Machiya. In traditional machiya, kitchen is at earth floor, so you can enjoy the atmosphere of old Japanese house.
There are markets and shopping archades are a lot at Kyoto, you can enjoy shopping foods and vegetables and cook at the house for your special dinner at Kyoto.
There is a parking space at Demizu-Machiya. The place of parking is just few mins walk from the house.
You can park there from your check in to check out, so please leave your car at there and enjoy sightseeing by public transportation because Kyoto's road is very narrow and crowded sometimes.
